COVID-19 vaccination with goal to achieve herd immunity by November in Cambodia

Cambodia Compass report, 16th June - Cambodia anticipates achieving herd immunity by November. According to Ministry of Health spokeswoman Or Vandine, a total of 3,000,264 people in Cambodia have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic, accounting for 30 percent of the 10 million people scheduled for vaccination on June 14. Cambodia is well on its way to meeting its target of 10 million people.

Vandine, who is also the head of Cambodia's national Covid-19 immunization panel, said on Twitter that Cambodians are being vaccinated as soon as feasible.

“Vaccination in Cambodia is moving at a faster pace than projected, and as long as vaccine shipments are delivered on time, we will likely stay ahead of schedule. “We are now vaccinating in the provinces,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hun Sen has opted to take charge of the National Committee to Combat COVID-19's leadership, with five deputy ministers serving as vice chairmen.

On June 15, the country reported 495 additional COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths, bringing the total number of infections and deaths to 39,464 and 361, respectively. The all-clear was given to 604 patients, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 33,571.
