Ministry of Tourism urges the private sector to be ready for New Year

Compass Cambodia report - On the second weekend of December 2021, the growth of domestic tourists is higher than the previous week, with a total of 222,527 tourists, including 216,709 national tourists and 5,818 internal foreigners.

Major tourist destinations include Preah Sihanouk Province 37,467 tourists, Phnom Penh 28,844 tourists, Kampot Province 27,041 tourists, Kampong Speu province 26,525 tourists, Pursat Province 20,826 tourists, Siem Reap Province 19,163 tourists, Battambang Province 13,850 tourists, Kep province 7,236 tourists and Mondulkiri Province 6,914 tourists.

As noted by Minister Thong Khon, the above figure increased by 22.93% compared to last weekend. Sihanoukville has become a top tourist destination receiving the most weekly visitors in the last three weeks.

The Department of Tourism and the Capital-Provincial Administration has been working to promote the implementation of tourism safety measures and SOPs in all tourism businesses, while the Ministry of Tourism is also monitoring the management of the three major tourist destinations: Sihanoukville, Siem Reap, and Phnom Penh. 

His Excellency Minister Thong Khon urged the private sector and tour operators to continue to organize their business to receive good quality to receive tourists on the occasion of the holidays 2021 to 2022.
