CDC: 149 Japanese investment projects have approved as of August 2022

The Council for the Development of Cambodia has approved 149 Japanese investment projects with a total investment of about $ 2.9 billion as of August 2022, including Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., which will invest US$36.7 million to establish a car assembly plant in the capital city of Phnom Penh, which will be situated in the Royal Group SEZ.

The report was presented at the 24th Meeting of the Cambodia-Japan Joint Committee, which took place on September 7, 2022. It was co-chaired by HE Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and HE Masahiro MIKAMI, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia. Also present were representatives of Japanese businesses doing business in Cambodia as well as JETRO, JICA, and JBAC.

H.E Sok Chenda Sophea expressed his appreciation for the investment activities of all Japanese investors during the meeting. These investors have consistently shown their high level of confidence in the Cambodian government, which has ensured peace and the political and economic stability needed to foster an environment that is conducive to investment.

The Japanese ambassador thanked the relevant ministries and organizations for their responsible efforts, facilitation, and attention to Japanese investors' worries. This emphasizes the Cambodian government's avowed desire to maintain and extend a warm welcome to all investors.
