Compass Cambodia report - According to a site visit by Minister of Tourism HE Thong Khon on Wednesday, the whole construction of the Kampot Tourism Port was over 84 percent complete as of September and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
In the meantime, the passenger terminal is more than 73 percent complete as of the same date.
The project, which is being developed with a US$8 million financing from the Asia Development Bank (ABD) and is located in Toek Chhu district, broke ground in August 2018.
The port, when completed, will be able to accommodate 1 million tourists and travelers and will serve as the primary link between Thailand and Cambodia's Kampot region.
The influence of COVID-19 has caused numerous delays in the development of this project. It was originally scheduled to debut in April 2020, but was pushed back to early 2021, then to mid to late 2021.
