Summary:According to a company-wide message sent to employees on Wednesday, Apple wants its employees back to work by September.

Cambodia Compass report, 4th June - According to a company-wide message sent to employees on Wednesday, Apple wants its employees back to work by September. Chief executive Tim Cook said that employees must return to their offices at least three days a week. Some employees will be given the option of working remotely for the remaining two days.

Teams that need to work "in person" will return for four or five days. Apple also announced that employees will be allowed to apply for two weeks of remote work every year.

Managers, on the other hand, will have to approve requests for remote work. Despite a smooth transition to remote working, Mr Cook believes it is insufficient to replace in-person communication.

"For all that we've been able to achieve while many of us have been separated, the truth is that there has been something essential missing from this past year: each other," he said in the document. "Video conference calling has narrowed the distance between us, to be sure, but there are things it simply cannot replicate." He added: "I know I'm not alone in missing the hum of activity, the energy, creativity and collaboration of our in-person meetings and the sense of community we've all built."

During the epidemic, Apple has gone from strength to strength, with overall revenues up 50% year over year, owing partly to an increase in iPhone sales. In comparison to other IT behemoths, the business has been more conservative in its work-from-home policy.

Last year, Facebook stated that its workers might work from home full-time if their boss approved it. When Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced a similar policy in May 2020, he made headlines as well. Google, on the other hand, just announced a similar effort to entice more workers back into workplaces three days a week.
