Compass Cambodia report - A study for the Chak Angre Krom – Prek Pra bridge (Prek Talong) has been completed by Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd. (SCG), while the government is now analyzing each section in detail.
On Tuesday, January 4th, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) met with the firm's technical teams to discuss the situation.
The discussion focused on present and future traffic flow, the road network linking to the bridge, the project's cost, detailed architectural design, and building requirements, according to MPWT Secretary of State Lim Sidenin.
He urged all members to provide additional input during the meeting in order to make the study even more comprehensive before submitting it for final clearance.
HE Lim Sidein also asked the working group to address other issues such as ensuring adequate space between the bridge pillars for traffic under NR2 and St. 110, maintaining adequate space for water traffic under the bridge, studying the economic and environmental impacts further, and selecting a design that best complements Phnom Penh's beauty.
According to MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has already given his backing to the plan to build the Chak Angre Krom – Prek Pr bridge across the Bassac River.
The bridge will assist relieve traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge and promote socio-economic ties between Phnom Penh and Takhmao City, which is located south of Phnom Penh and near the new airport.
