In the first five months of 2023, 64 investment projects with a total investment of $540.74 million were approved by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), creating 78,292 jobs.

This number compared to the same period in 2022 saw a significant decrease, while in the first five months of 2022, the CDC approved 72 investment projects with a total investment of more than $2.648 billion and provided employment opportunities to 44,659 people.

According to the report of the CDC, out of 64 investment projects, in January, 10 investment projects with a total investment of $99.4 million provided 17,129 job opportunities, in February, there are 17 investment projects with an investment capital of $98.8 million provide 22,784 job opportunities.

In March, there were 7 investment projects with an investment capital of $33.7 million provided 6,669 job opportunities. In April, there were 20 investment projects with an investment capital of $247.7 million provided 17,723 job opportunities and in May, 10 investment projects with an investment capital of $ 60.14 million provided 13,987 jobs.

The development of a sizable cattle farm in Snuol district, Kratie province, with an investment capital of over $73.4 million, was the largest and most expensive of the 64 investment projects undertaken in April alone. An estimated $30 million will be invested in a project to boost tourism on Koh Toteung and other related activities in Kirisakor district, Koh Kong province. A project to build a plant to manufacture and assemble solar panels in Ang Snoul district, Kandal province, with an investment of about $15.6 million, and Kampong Speu province with about $ 26 million in investment capital.
