Imports of construction materials rose by 50 percent in 2018

Vongsey Vissoth, secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, said at the Macro-economic Forum on January 15, 2019 that such a huge increase was due to the construction of supermarkets, condos, multi-office buildings in the last 2018. 

He said that direct foreign direct investment in the construction sector has grown by more than 30%, as most investors believe in the sector as stable and that the sector has boosted the national economy. Within 7 per cent, and another 7 per cent increase in Cambodia's priorities, such as garments, wholesale and retail trade, The hotels and restaurants.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance says the construction sector in Cambodia is stable, stable and more stable for the year 2019, due to Cambodia's security, peace and good political environment. Both the government provides a great environment for investors both locally and internationally.

He added that for the real estate sector in 2018 there was also a good situation, up 8.8 percent because of the high demand for  low-price  and high-price of condo and office demand in the market. Construction and real estate will continue to rise.

According to the Ministry of Land Management and Construction, the investment capital in the construction sector in 2018 reached 54 billion USD, while in 2017 the investment amounted to 6200 million US dollars.
