Du Fei, general manager of China Road and Bridge Corporation, said that in addition to the construction of the Phnom Penh to Shihanouvile Expressway, China Road and Bridge Company plans to build Phnom Penh to Bavet Expressway also, connecting the highways of Koh Kong Province Pusat and Battambang Provice. Du Fei talked with Prime Minister Hun Sen on the progress of the preparatory construction of the Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville Expressway project.
Prime Minister Hun Sen hopes that China Road and Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. (CRBC) will start construction of the Phnom Penh- Shihanouvile Expressway as soon as possible. At present, about 200 Chinese technicians and engineers and large-scale machinery and equipment worth more than US$100 million to build the highway from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville have arrived in Cambodia. It is estimated that Chinese companies will invest about 190 million US dollars in construction. The project will start construction in February or early March.
The highway project from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville will be connected to the capitals of Phnom Penh, Kandan Province, Kampong Speu Province, Sihanouk Province, 4 provinces, 6 townships, 1 district, 2 cities, 31 communes and 110 villages. The rubber- concrete pavement with a width of 24.5 meters and a total of 89 bridges with a total length of 190 kilometers. There are four rest stops and three gas stations along the highway, and there are two long fence along the road for animal protection.
Hua Yin Group Chairman Shu Yinbiao told Prime Minister Hun Sen that Huaneng Group is studying the construction of solar power projects in Cambodia and plans to invest in the construction of a crude oil and natural gas pipeline from Kampong Sorm to Phnom Penh.
