20% of PP-SH expressway completed

Built by state-owned China Road and Bridge Corp (CRBC) through its subsidiary Cambodia PPSHV Expressway Co Ltd, two-way four lane ,the 190 kilometre high-speed highway linking the capital to the coastal Preah Sihanouk province is estimated to cost roughly $1.9 billion. It is 24.5 metres wide.

The ministry’s announcement yesterday said that so far the construction of the Kingdom’s first expressway is 20.65 percent complete while 88.84 percent of people directly affected have allowed the road to cross their land. Construction of the expressway started in March 2019 with an initial plan to finish by 2023. With the joint efforts of Chinese and Cambodian workers, the construction of the PP-SHV Expressway was smoothly constructing during the pandemic.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the PP-SHV Expressway strategy is of great significance, will promote Cambodia to improve logistics efficiency, reduce logistics costs, shorten transportation time, and make important contributions to Cambodia's economic growth.

In addition, in order to strengthen the awareness of Cambodian employees,Khmer epidemic prevention posters are hung on the camp, requiring workers to wear masks to work under normal body temperature. The project team also issued a Khmer version of the anti-pandemic manual for local employees, and provided certain protective equipment and supplies for local employees who had living in the camp.
