The national project to build a renewable energy museum, along with the creation of the “Hun Sen Kampot National Park” on an 8.60-hectare island area located in the community of Monivong Bokor National Park, will begin in 2020 and set to be completed by 2022.
This unique landmark project was addressed during a consultation meeting on the collaboration and impact study in the implementation of the project by the Kampot provincial administration, presided over by HE Keo Rottanak, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime minister and the Director General of Electricity of Cambodia with Kampot governor and a total of 28 local authority officials on May 21, 2020.
Speaking at the meeting, HE Keo Ratanak stated that the purpose of this project is to focus on two issues: First, to provide a knowledge hub for international tourists and the Cambodian people by creating a hydropower information collection at one single place. When tourists visit Bokor National Park, they will be able to learn about hydropower in the whole Cambodia by just visiting the museum.
He pointed out that, because currently we have sufficient hydropower plants, yet a collection of on-site knowledge and experience for researches and public education has not yet existed.
Secondly, the creation of the Hun Sen Kampot National Park is intended to attract more national and international tourists to the area in Kampot, a province with the potential of greater new achievements.
The National Renewable Energy Museum and the Hun Sen Kampot National Park is a project implemented in accordance with a sub-decree issued by the Royal Government of Cambodia for EDC. Yet, it is still not yet clear how much the project will cost.
As for the name of the project, HE Keo Ratanak mentioned that the name “Project on National Museum of Renewable Energy and Samdech Hun Sen Kampot National Park” is the name that was temporarily adopted at the meeting. If we have more wind or solar power later on, this project name might be renewed.(This news came from Construction-Property.com)
