This project is one of the projects funded by the Republic of Korea and can supply water to over 11,000 hectares in the rainy season and 4,000 hectares in the dry season.
For the work that has been carried out includes diversion tunnel (length 380m), Stung Sangke sluice gate (length 74m), 4 concrete canals (over 17km), 13 main canals, 21 water distribution constructions, 23 bridges across canals, 274 stairs to the main canal.
H.E Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology said, “the dam is operated with a computer-controlled system and is a third project following the Sek Sak Multi-Purpose Project and the Kantha Dam for storing water before flowing into the Tonle Sap.”
The dam will not only supply water for people in Battambang, but also become a tourist attracted destination as well.
Another dam is also being developed in Battambang province is the Dauntri Dam which is completed by 26% and scheduled for completion in 2023.
