Compass Cambodia report, July 23rd - Dara Sakor International Airport in Koh Kong province has reached 100% completion and is set to open for business by the end of the year.
The major construction has been completed since late 2020, according to Sin Chanserevutha, spokesman for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation. However, the firm is in the process of completing other technical tasks before operating.
"Miscellaneous cleaning and technical works may take 5 to 6 months to complete before the facility is operational in late 2021," he said.
The Chinese firm Tianjin Union Development Group (UDG) is developing the US$350 million Dara Sakor International Airport project, which spans 4.5 hectares of land.
The airport will be equipped to handle long-haul aircraft such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A340 once it is fully operational.
