Cambodia land market situation

On the 15th, the Provincial Government of Cambodia issued a circular to the public, calling for an immediate stop to illegal sale of land in nature reserves park, communities and forest covered areas.

According to documents, people in Batum Sakor, Koh Kong district, Kiri Sakor, Thmor Bang district and other areas have traded nature reserves, communities and forest covered areas illegally. The Cambodian government emphasizes that this trafficking has not been inspected and measured by officials, villages, provinces and other institutions, and this kind of trade is only a personal transaction by the buyers and sellers, which is illegal.

Illegal sale of state-owned land is not alone. On the 13th, the Pursat police detained five suspects who were suspected of illegally selling state-owned land on social platforms. The land involved in the case was changed from an economic concession to a social concession, and the government distributed the land to poor families living in Krakor County, Pursat Province. The five suspects have posted on Facebook to sell state-owned land illegally, and suspects were detained by the police on suspicion of fraud and sold state-owned land illegally. They are detained in police station.

The Ministry of Land Planning and Construction stated that the government will complete 100% land registration for state-owned, private and indigenous communities in the country by 2021.
