Siem Reap provincial officials have revealed that during the five-day holiday, which the Royal Government has decided to replace the traditional Khmer New Year, the province will hold a variety of religious and sports events in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism for 2 days in order to attract national and international tourists to visit. This was stated by Tea Seiha, Governor of Siem Reap Province.
He had spoken at a meeting to review the results of the first half of the year and the direction of the second half of 2020 on July 19 to monitor and support the implementation of the fourth phase of the Rectangular Political Program and Strategy of Royal Government of Cambodia.
The provincial governor said, "On the New Year's holiday, there will be a religious and sports program in Siem Reap in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism for two days in order to attract national and international tourists to visit."
Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, said that in August, the Royal Government will allow civil servants, employees and workers to take five days off, so the province and business owners who own hotels, guesthouses and restaurants prepare to welcome foreign visitors, although the situation of international tourists has not increased, however, must adhere to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health to participate in the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic.
