Will Kandal be the next hot investment city?

Cambodia government issued a ban on cross-provincial movement. From 0:00 on the 10th to the 16th, cross-provincial traffic was suspended, and cross-provincial movement was prohibited.

The prohibition of cross-provincial movement is to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is difficult for people from other  provinces and cities to enter Phnom Penh's urban area. However, in view of the actual work and business needs of civil servants, workers and people, the government finally decided to combine Phnom Penh and Kandal into the unified jurisdiction, Phnom Penh and Kandal are not subject to traffic control, and people in the two cities could commute freely.

Why Kandal only?

Actually, this is not the first time for Kandal become a hot topic.

Although Kandal has small area, recent years Kandal has enjoyed multiple dividend for neighboring Phnom Penh.

At the end of February this year, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that due to Phnom Penh's urban development space was insufficient, the scope of land development needed to be expanded. The Akrey Khsat and Lvea Em of Kandal province will be divided into the jurisdiction of Phnom Penh, and a new district government will be established to govern, some district governments in Phnom Penh were divided from Kandal province. The geographic advantages of Kandal province are self-evident, and it is inevitable to develop faster.

Further, Kandal province will build a new Phnom Penh International Airport. The new Phnom Penh International Airport covers an area of 2,600 hectares with a total investment of approximately US $ 1.5 billion. The airport is a 4F-class airport and can take off and land a variety of large aircraft. After completion, it will become the ninth largest airport in the world. It is planned to receive 27 million passengers by 2030 and 30 million passengers by 2050.

Besides new Phnom Penh international airport, Kandal province are planning to built new port and SEZ.

After the completion of all infrastructure, Kandal will take more city function for Phnom Penh. The kandal will enhance new chance for development. Kandal is the only city which enjoyed all development dividend besides Sihanoukvile.

At present, the housing market in Kandal province has not yet taken shape, but land investment is already very popular. Many investors interested in set up factories or intend to make long-term investments prefer these potential land. While Kandal Province is still in bottom price, these land can be paid attention to in advance!
