LTI: Song Saa resort among top ten hotels of the decade

Song Saa Private Island brought honour to the Kingdom after it was named one of the ten best luxury hotels built this decade.

Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI), a members-only organisation that has been described as the leading source of hotel information among luxury travelers, put Song Saa Private Island on the list, together with well-known names from other parts of Asia, Africa and Europe.

LTI came up with top ten list this week after an evaluation performed by 12 of its researchers. The LTI research team evaluated nearly 300 properties from around the world that were built between 2010 and 2019 before coming up with the final list.

Song Saa Private Island was the sole Cambodian hotel and the only one from Southeast Asia that made the list.

The island nation of Maldives, which is known for luxury tourism, had the most number of hotels in the list at three, including Velaa Private Island, Soneva Jani and Cheval Blanc Randheli.

Also on the list are Corinthia London in the United Kingdom, Kokomo Private Island in Fiji, La Reserve Hotel Paris in France, Six Senses Zil Pasyon in Seychelles, The Silo Hotel in South Africa and Aman Tokyo in Japan.

“The team at LTI is totally submerged in every aspect of luxury travel every day, yet even we are continually surprised and occasionally speechless at the level of excellence we find at particular properties,” Michael Crompton, founder of LTI, was quoted as saying by Business Insider.

“Of course this makes an exercise such as this even more difficult to call, but having visited all of these exceptional properties, some several times, we are confident that of all the great new hotels and resorts we have seen over the past ten years, this is without doubt, the perfect ten,” he added.

Frederic Chan, chief investment officer at WS Asia Pacific, said he was not surprised that Song Saa Private Island received such an accolade, considering the effort invested on the project.

“As far as I know, it was a real challenge building a high-end hotel with top facilities and high quality services on an empty island and transform it into a success story. What they did was simply miraculous,” said Mr Chan, who disclosed that he had some involvement with the project in the past.
