After Coronavirus ended, Cambodia may embrace invest boom

Although theCoranavirus broke out in China, Cambodia, which is highly dependent on Chinese capital, also suffered heavy losses. Investment and construction in Cambodia were affected to a certain extent, and the tourism industry was hit hard. Angkor Wat attracted only 222,561 foreign tourists in January this year. The number fell by 17.89%, and ticket revenue fell by 14.81%.

The tourism industry is blocked, and the related service industry is also facing a large-scale slowdown. Many people are worried that the Coronavirus will directly reduce the growth rate of Cambodia's GDP and they are pessimistic about the development of tourism-related industries.

However, Yang Li, director of the National Finance and Development Laboratory believes that although the Coronavirus has had a major impact on the service industry, investment consumption may occur in the future, then the loss is expected to be paid.

During the hard time, the Coronavirus are more severe than we thought, people have to stay at home for protection. People are planning for a trip already after the Coronavirus ended.

Tourism is a long-established pillar industry in Cambodia. Cambodia is rich in tourism resources. Angkor Wat, one of the "Seven Wonders of the World", is famous at worldwide attracting many international tourists to check in. In addition to Angkor Wat, the coastal city of Sihanoukvile and the capital Phnom Penh are also popular tourist destinations in Cambodia. Attractions such as Sokha Beach, Koh Rong Island, the National Museum, and the Royal Palace are popular with international tourists.

China is the largest source country of Cambodia. In 2019, 2.36 million Chinese tourists visited Cambodia, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%. After the Cornavirus ended, a large number of Chinese people have poured into Cambodia, and the tourism and service industries are bound to heat up quickly.

Secondly, the temperature in Cambodia is high, and short sleeves are already worn. For Chinese people who spend a winter at home, warm places are also more attractive.

Coupled with the short voyage of Cambodia, many cities in China can fly directly to the popular tourist cities of Cambodia.

Besides the Chinese, the number of people traveling in other countries will increase after the Coronavirus. By then, Cambodia is bound to usher in a wave of tourism.
