Phnom Penh Authority Starts Study of 2 New Subway Projects in Phnom Penh to facilitate the travelling of the people who are struggling with traffic jam.
According to the governor of Phnom Penh, the two new subway projects are located under Russian Federation Road, one in front of the Institute of Foreign Languages and the other locate in the Double Golden Deer, while both are facing traffic jams frequently every day.
Speaking at a subway meeting with experts, Phnom Penh Governor Khure Sreng said that the subway construction is a long-term traffic congestion mechanism that facilitates the exit and entry of students at the Royal University of Phnom Penh as well as citizens and tourists while the Russian Federation Road is currently in a state of heavy traffic, it faces traffic congestion and disrupts people's travel.
Furthermore, Mr. Sam Piseth, Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport, said that for the subway project in front of the Institute of Foreign Languages is under the Russian Federation Road, connecting Road 271 to the Foreign Language Institute. At the same time, it is easy for students to come in and out without congestion or traffic accidents.
He added that in Double Golden Deer areas, the subway would also have to run under Russian Federation Road, linking 169 to the Boeung Kak Road to ease traffic congestion in that area.
It would be informed that Phnom Penh authorities will continue the study of the subway project in more detail in order to officially establish the construction in the near future for the benefit of the society.(This news came from Business-Cambodia.com)
