FDI inflows reached US$8.1 billion in a whole year

According to a report by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in the one-year period from September 2023 to September 2024, Cambodia's foreign direct investment inflows increased to US$8.1 billion.

This growth reflects strong confidence from international parties in Cambodia's growth-oriented policies and stable economic situation.

The main sources of foreign direct investment are from China, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Speaking at the Global China Economic and Technology Summit (GCET 2024) last week, His Excellency Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, said that Cambodia has strengthened its position as the fastest-growing investment destination in the region.

H.E. Minister of MEF added that in 2024 and 2025, the economy is projected to grow by about 6 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively, supported by momentum in export-oriented sectors, especially the garment sector.

He also stated that, “Cambodia is open to foreign business ownership and provides freedom in the transfer of capital. We allow 100 percent foreign ownership in most sectors, except land ownership, and allow investors to freely buy foreign currency and repatriate that foreign currency.”

He continued that our investment law provides extensive tax reductions for up to nine years, investment guarantees, and simplifies the business registration process.

It is worth noting that in the first 9 months of 2024, the Council for the Development of Cambodia registered 315 projects, bringing in US$5.3 billion in investment and creating more than 252,000 jobs.
