In November 2024, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 40 new projects and 3 production expansion projects with a total investment capital of approximately $939 million and the potential to create approximately 39,000 jobs.
Of the total investment projects, 32 are located outside the special economic zone and 11 are located in the special economic zone.
Notably, the most prominent investment projects outside the special economic zones in November include:
1) Production expansion project of the basic telecommunications service investment project (mobile phone system), capital and provincial locations nationwide, additional investment of US$480 million, and creating 2,004 jobs.
2) Tourism sector: Investment project to build a 5-star hotel with 300 rooms, located in Bavet Kandal Village, Bavet Commune, Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, with an investment capital of US$70 million, and creating 822 jobs.
3) Industrial sector: Investment project to establish a factory to produce energy drinks, located in Kruos Village, Samrong Sangkat, Prek Pnov District, Phnom Penh, with an investment capital of US$39 million, and creating 115 jobs.
4) Industrial sector: Investment project to establish a factory to produce Christmas tree lights, air mattresses, and furniture, located in Phum 1, Traeng Trayueng Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, with an investment of US$35 million, and creating 1,930 jobs.
Specifically, in the special economic zone: an investment project to create a special economic zone in Cheung Kou commune, Prey Nob district, Sihanoukville province, with an investment capital of US$50.5 million and creating 203 jobs.
The investment project to establish an aluminum processing factory and produce solar panel accessories, located in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, has an investment capital of US$30 million and is creating 160 jobs.
It is also worth noting that in November 2024, investment from Vietnam ranked first, contributing 51.08%; China ranked second, contributing 24.26%; and Cambodia ranked third, contributing 14.49% of total investment capital.
