H.E.Touch Chankosal, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) held a meeting to review and discuss the terms of reference for the feasibility study of the project to improve National Road 1 and build a new bridge across the Mekong River.
The meeting was attended by representatives of The Ministry of Economy and Finance, representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Director of Road Infrastructure Departement at MPWT, and relevant officials.
In this meeting, JICA representative detailed the preliminary action plan of the project and submitted a feasibility study plan for review and discussion. At the same time, the participants made suggestions on the optimization plan to ensure that the project is more feasible and sustainable at the technical, economic and environmental levels
As a response to this, H.E.Touch Chankosal provided key recommendations and progress reports on other related projects, he emphasized that the research team should fully consider the possible impact of climate change and comprehensively evaluate the potential impact of the project on the environment, society and the nearby residents.
He also required the research team to strictly abide by technical specifications and safety standards during the planning process to ensure that the project is carried out professionally and maximize the efficiency of the use of roads and bridges
