Cambodia Compass report, 25th May - Cambodia's ultimate target is to obtain between 20 and 26 million doses in order to vaccinate between 10 and 13 million citizens. China has purchased and donated over six million doses. The US has given more than $11 million through its international development agency USAID to assist Cambodia.
"President [Joe] Biden declared that the US would provide 80 million doses of vaccines to meet global needs by the end of June," Roedemeier said. The US has also promised $4 billion to the WHO's Covax program, far beyond any other country's funding. Since the Covax mechanism was running too slowly, Kin Phea, director of the Royal Academy of Cambodia's International Relations Institute believes vaccinations should be given directly to developing countries. Hospital's emergency unit fitted with oxygen, ventilators, and other products to provide respiratory support. Many more beds need to be outfitted with oxygen. In just two days, the ministry announced 556 new Covid-19 infections and three new deaths, taking total to 1,116 infections and 12 deaths.
Cambodia had reported 25,761 Covid-19 cases as of May 24, with 18,359 recoveries and 179 fatalities.
