Cambodia Compass report, 26th May - As of May 24, vaccination coverage against the COVID-19 pandemic in Cambodia had increased to nearly 23%, or 2,280,875 of the 10 million people expected to be vaccinated. The National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination released the figures, noting that 1,646,994 people had already received their second doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Many had been vaccinated, included members of the diplomatic corps, employees of UN agencies and foreign organizations, and their family members.
In addition to Boeung Keng Kang, Sensok, and the Red Areas, the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration and the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination initiated the vaccination campaign in three districts this morning: Chamkarmon, 7 Makara, and Chbar Ampov. Cambodia plans to vaccinate about 10 million people, or 62 percent of the total population, against COVID-19, with more than 95 percent projected to be vaccinated by the second half of 2022.
Over 6 million doses of vaccines have been delivered to the Kingdom, including 1.7 million doses donated by China, 4 million doses purchased from China, and 324,000 doses of AstraZeneca/SII (COVISHIELD) through the COVAX Facility. Next month, more doses are expected to arrive in Cambodia.
