Compass Cambodia report - Ave Arup Limited in Cambodia wants to cooperate with Cambodia to build an MRT transport system similar to Singapore. This is according to the work discussion of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on August 10, 2022.
Arup representatives in Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the United Kingdom stated that the purpose of the meeting was to learn more about the growth and development of physical infrastructure in Cambodia, as well as to clarify the current state of infrastructure development which is a plan for the future.
In addition, Arup representatives said that the meeting focused on finding solutions for the transport sector and city planning to avoid traffic congestion, wanting to cooperate on public transport projects (such as the Singapore MRT system), and presented a model of Public-Private Partnership related to procurement.
Regarding the public transport system, the Permanent Secretary of State, HE Touch Chankosal, said that in the past, the Ministry has also studied the Automated Train (AGT), Subway and Monorail development projects to reduce Traffic congestion in Phnom Penh as well.
