Compass Cambodia report - The first Covid-19 vaccine packaging plant in Cambodia will officially open in November 2022 located in the north of Phnom Penh.
HE Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, led the officials to the site of the factory on August 26 to inspect the sand dredging process and the construction of various infrastructures to prepare for the official construction site.
According to the Minister of Health, the factory will be built on an area of about 5 hectares located along National Road 5, in Ponhea Leu district, Kandal province that built-in collaboration with Chinese company Sinovac, the Cambodian pharmaceutical company (CPE) plans to invest about US$100 million in initial investment.
The Ministry of Health, CPE, and China’s Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd in July signed the Memorandum of Understanding to permit Cambodia to fill and pack Covid-19 inactivated vaccines.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the CPE is authorized to fill and package locally inactivated Covid-19 vaccine supplied by Sinovac Life Sciences and supply to the government for three years from 2024 to 2026.
