The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has held a workshop to share knowledge and discuss property tax management in Cambodia, while tax revenues are still low. This is according to the workshop on February 23 and 24, 2023.
The ADB organized the workshop to discuss strengthening property taxes and boosting revenue at the sub-national level.
In addition, the workshop shared the results of a detailed appraisal study with policies and recommendations of the Royal Government, including the development of standards for real estate appraisal forms and simple and easy tax collection processes.
In addition, the whole workshop collected key input from stakeholder research and discussed the steps to be taken to implement the recommendations set out in this workshop.
In her opening remarks, Jyotsana Varma, ADB Country Director for Cambodia, noted that Cambodia’s total tax revenue had risen sharply, but property tax and unused land tax revenue were still low.
She stressed that these taxes are an important source for the development of sub-national administrations to achieve sustainable development goals and promote economic recovery after the 19-Kovid crisis.
