Banteay Meanchey province has 5 special economic zones and nearly 20 factories that create jobs for more than 20,000 people. This is according to HE Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, who told the reporters of Radio National of Cambodia.
Oum Reatrey said that Banteay Meanchey province has 5 special economic zones, 4 of which are operating and 1 industrial park with nearly 20 factories that provide more than 20,000 jobs to people.
In addition, there are more than 1,000 small handicraft production bases with 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 employees. These factories are engaged in the production of jewellery, textiles and processing of agricultural products and by-products.
He added that through these industries, Banteay Meanchey has been transformed from a remote and uninhabited area into a bustling area full of infrastructure development, especially in Poipet, and people have jobs. Each of them earns a decent income and lives a civilized life.
In addition, Oum Reatrey confirmed that the companies that invest in the special economic zone in Banteay Meanchey are mostly foreign companies, such as Thai, Japanese and Chinese companies.
