The Koh Pich-Koh Norea Bridge will be reopened for temporary use from today (October 20), at 6:00 am, to reduce traffic congestion at the construction site of Preah Monivong flyover.
The good news was announced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Public Works and Transport yesterday.
The cable-stayed bridge connecting Koh Pich satellite city to the Koh Norea development area in Phnom Penh’s Khan ChbarAmpov was once opened temporarily during the Pchum Ben holiday last week to facilitate the people’s travels.
This almost-completed-construction bridge, broken ground in October 2020 at a total cost of US$38 million by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), a private firm investing wholly Koh Norea Development Area, is scheduled for official inauguration in November 2023.
Once in operation, the 824-metre-long-and-24.5-metre-wide cable-stayed bridge will significantly reduce traffic congestion on National Road No. 1, sitting south of the Koh Norea development area and to enhance the local economy by facilitating the transport of goods and people.
