Runways and Infrastructure Complete, Bringing Techo International Airport Close to Complete Operation

The aviation landscape in Cambodia has been gradually evolving, and an important milestone has been accomplished. Techo International Airport's runway and all related facilities are finished and 100% complete as of November 4, 2023. The commitment and tireless work put into this ground-breaking initiative are highlighted by this announcement.

The momentous achievement was confirmed by Mr. Ly SokChhay, General Director of LSCG Group, the entity entrusted with the monumental task of constructing the airport’s runway and related infrastructure. Speaking on November 5, 2023, Mr. Ly SokChhay revealed that his company, in collaboration with partners from MCC and a dedicated team, worked incessantly to meet this remarkable milestone ahead of schedule.

The cost to build a state-of-the-art runway that complied with US standards and included an advanced irrigation system and other necessary infrastructure was more than $175 million. Notably, these extraordinary efforts continued through the difficult periods of the global pandemic.

On November 4, 2023, H.E. Dr. Seang Bunleang and Lok Chumteav Akka Moha Upasika Hun Bunthoeun, along with their colleagues, paid an inspection visit to mark the completion of this enormous undertaking.

During this visit, H.E. and Lok Chumteav conveyed their unwavering encouragement for this remarkable investment project and their sincere appreciation to the participating companies, construction companies, and committed contractors who worked tirelessly for years to realize this vision.

OCIC is currently developing Techo International Airport, an ambitious project with an estimated investment value of US$1.5 billion. When it is completely operational, this airport will rank as the ninth largest in the world and be designated as a 4F airport. As it gets closer to its official opening, Cambodia's efforts to grow its aviation industry are making progress.
