The new building of the Ministry of Interior has been officially inaugurated.
Amid a grand ceremony, Cambodia marked a monumental moment in its development journey as the new US$60 million Ministry of Interior building was officially inaugurated. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, graced the momentous occasion on November 6, 2023, reflecting the nation’s commitment to progress.
The new edifice proudly stands on the historic site along Norodom Street in Tonle Bassac, Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh. A striking architectural marvel, this 9-story building spans an impressive area of 105,545 square meters and accommodates a capacious parking lot for up to 330 vehicles. Its design, a classic Khmer-style masterpiece, draws inspiration from the grandeur of Angkor Wat, boasting a five-story tiled roof that pays homage to Cambodia’s rich heritage.
The inauguration ceremony signifies more than just a new infrastructure; it symbolizes Cambodia’s dedication to modernity, growth, and administrative excellence. The Ministry of Interior’s building, with its timeless architectural design and cutting-edge facilities, now stands as the largest administrative edifice in Cambodia.
Embarking on this path to grandeur, the construction of the Ministry of Interior’s new office building commenced on November 11, 2021, as part of the ministry’s direct budget allocation. It’s a testament to Cambodia’s commitment to fostering infrastructure that befits a nation on the rise.
