The Government of Cambodia has decided to designate the Military Historical Area, also known as the Techo Historical Heritage Area, which is located in the 3rd Military Zone, the 4th Military Zone, the 5th Military Zone, and the Anlong Veng Historical Area. This is according to Sub-Decree No. 155, dated July 11, 2023.
The government identifies these areas to protect the natural environment, preserve the national heritage, and preserve and develop military historical sites, including the development of national and international tourism.
In addition, it wants to preserve the sites of former political and military organizations, armed bases, and former battlefields for the education and dissemination of the international community to study, research, and learn about win-win politics.
It should be noted that the military historical sites in the 3rd Military Zone have 31 locations in Koh Kong, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Kampot, Kep, and Sihanoukville.
There are 26 military historical sites in the 4th Military Zone in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces.
There are 30 military historical sites in the 5th Military Zone in Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pailin, and Pursat provinces.
Separately, the Anlong Veng historical site is located in the Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province.
