Kampot provincial government plans to improve and develop four major locations to attract more tourists in 2024.
According to the meeting on December 12, 2023, Mr. Mao Thunin, Governor of Kampot Province pointed out that since Cambodia successfully controlled the situation of Covid-19, the number of local and international tourists has increased steadily across the country, while Kampot has also seen a significant increase. At the same time, Kampot has also expanded a number of locations providing tourism services, aiming to attract more tourists to visit the province.
He said that with the development of tourism sector, the provincial government plans to improve and further develop four major locations in Kampot City to attract more tourists in 2024. The first location: in front of the old provincial hall will be decorated with a seahorse statue, equipped with colorful lights and fountain; The second location: from the new stone bridge to the railway bridge will be developed into an amusement park; The third location: the government will organize a beautiful and attractive tourist boat port; and for the fourth location will lay floor tiles from the statue of King Ang Duong to the garden in front of the dolphin roundabout. In addition, the government will make Koh Smao beach more beautiful, rehabilitate a large tourist port, and plan to build a new beach.
Mr. Mao Thunin also requested the Chairman and members of the provincial council together with all relevant personnel to consider, give opinions as well as support the development projects of the provincial administration in order to take advantage of the tourism sector. All development is done to take advantage of the potential that the province has and provide income to the people and to help increase the gross domestic product (GDP) in Kampot.
