The meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee of the Third Expressway Project from Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet City was held on December 13, 2023, under the chairmanship of H.E. Sun Chanthol, First Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Council for Development of Cambodia, and Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Commission.

The meeting was also attended by H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, members of the Inter-Ministerial Commission, and other relevant officials.

The meeting was held in order to promote the implementation of the expressway infrastructure project connecting Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet after the signing of the Framework Agreement (FA).

According to the meeting of the committee on the above project, the project is currently being carried out by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) Preliminary Feasibility Study (PSF) and is scheduled to be completed in the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap part in February and the Siem Reap-Poipet part in May 2024.

Please be informed that the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway Project is the third expressway project in Cambodia after Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville, the first expressway, which has been open for more than a year. The second expressway, Phnom Penh-Bavet city, construction site opened on June 7, 2023, and is currently in the process of implementing a series of procedures as planned.

The third expressway is more than 400 kilometers long, passing through six capitals and provinces, including Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, and Banteay Meanchey province. The project is divided into two phases: the first phase is about 249 kilometers from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap Province, and the second phase is about 151 kilometers from Siem Reap Province to Poipet City.
