The Royal Government will build a new stadium with a capacity of more than 30,000 people in Sihanoukville.
In a meeting to review the progress of construction work on December 18, 2023, H.E. Say Sam Al, Deputy Prime Minister, considered the stadium construction project another new achievement under the initiative of Samdach Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
The construction of the stadium in Sihanoukville is in response to citizens' requests and to develop sports and tourism needs in the province to grow more, which will contribute to attracting national and international tourists to visit the province as well as other coastal provinces.
The new stadium can accommodate up to 31,500 people and will also have cafes, tents, tourist parks, museums, theaters, and other infrastructure that will be built in a contemporary style, incorporating national identity and ensuring long-lasting quality like the ancient buildings left behind today.
The purpose of establishing this Sihanoukville Stadium project is due to the fact that Sihanoukville is an outstanding area for project development. However, there is no national stadium yet, noting that there is only a private stadium, so the idea to create this stadium was inspired.
