More than 11 kilometers of beachfront road connecting Koh Tonsay Tourism Port in Kep Province to Angkol Beach is under construction. So far, almost 100% of the project has been completed before the end of 2023; the whole project will be completed by the beginning of 2024.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with an estimated cost of US$10.5 million and began construction in March 2022.
Mr. Lim Bunleng, an engineer for the road construction contractor, said that the asphalt pavement work will be completed before the end of 2023, including the AC paving of roads and the installation of lighting poles; that is, the entire project will be completed in January 2024.
Bun Yong, Deputy Governor and Spokesperson of Kep Provincial Administration, said that through the project of the beachfront road with a length of more than 11 kilometers, this is another new achievement of Kep Provincial Administration, especially for the tourism sector led by the Governor of Kep Province. One road will definitely be a destination to attract tourists to enjoy New Year's Day (2023–2024) at our new resort, which is Angkol Beach.
It should be informed that the Kep Beachfront Road project is a sub-project of ADB’s Greater Mekong Sub-region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project Phase II. Under this scheme, two other sub-projects, including the landfill, were inaugurated and transferred to the Provincial Administration, as well as a new tourism port on Koh Tonsay in Kep province, which is under construction.
It should be reminded that in August this year, the Ministry of Tourism officially announced the implementation of the "Kep Tourism Master Plan 2023-2035" to turn Kep into a high-level luxury eco-tourist destination with attractive quality that ensures high competitive advantage in the region and the world.
