The Royal Government allows a company to study the new airport investment project in Mondulkiri province

The Royal Government has decided to authorize the FOCUS Consortium to study and invest in the new Mondulkiri Airport project in the form of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and the development of a multi-purpose satellite city and air cargo hub in Mondulkiri. This is according to notification No. 41 of the NCC, dated January 9, 2024.

At the same time, the Royal Government has authorized the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation to cooperate with the FOCUS Consortium in developing the above project in accordance with the laws and procedures in force in Cambodia.

H.E. Sin Chansereivutha, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for Civil Aviation, told the local media on January 13, 2024, that FOCUS Consortium, led by FOCUS Consulate Global Venture Ltd., is a joint venture company from Malaysia, China, and the Arab world.

He said that reaching out to invest in the new Mondulkiri airport project and the development of a multi-purpose satellite city in Mondulkiri province depends on the study and whether the company finds that the good work will lead to investment.

Please be informed that the Royal Government has allowed China Power Company to study the airport investment project in Mondulkiri province. Mondulkiri Airport is planned to be built on a 300-hectare site about 20 kilometers from Sen Monorom commune, Oreang district, Mondulkiri province, which is estimated to cost more than $80 million.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic crisis and the global economic situation, China Power has stalled the project. So now, the Royal Government has given the right to new companies to study the investment project at Mondulkiri Airport.
