The "Prek Pra-Chak Angre Bridge" project, worth about $60 million, is ready to inaugurate the construction site in February. This was confirmed by Phorn Rim, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
He said that if the plan does not change, the groundbreaking ceremony will take place on February 19, and the first pillar on the east side will be ready by the end of January 2024.
Phorn Rim said that the project "Prek Pra-Chak Angre Bridge" can help reduce traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge across the Tonle Bassac connecting National Road 1 in the Chbar Ampov area and strengthen the socio-economic relations between the south of Phnom Penh and Techo Takhmao International Airport, especially to improve the efficiency of transportation and logistics in Phnom Penh as well as reduce traffic congestion along the Tonle Bassac River and accelerate the development of the area.
It should be noted that the project to build a bridge across the river from Prek Pra to Chak Angre above uses a concessional loan from China worth about $60 million and is estimated to take 42 months.
