32 investment projects with a total investment of more than $187 million were approved by the Council for the Development of Cambodia in January. This is according to the press release of the Council for the Development of Cambodia on February 1, 2024.

In January 2024, the CDC approved 32 new projects and expansion projects, with a total investment of over $187 million and creating nearly 29,000 jobs.

Notably, the most prominent monthly investment projects include:

(1) Project to establish an electronics factory in Samrong district, Takeo province

(2) Project to create a factory to assemble motorcycles, bicycles, tuk-tuks, and chargers in Kien Svay District, Kandal Province.

(3) Project to establish a processing plant for aluminum, steel, and copper in Kong Pisei district, Kampong Speu province

(4) Project to establish a textile and garment factory in Kampong Seila district, Preah Sihanouk province.

It should be noted that in January 2024, more than 78% of investment came from China, 9.65% from Singapore, 5.34% from the United States, 3.55% from South Korea, and 2.73% from local sources.

In 2023, the Council for the Development of Cambodia approved 268 investment projects with a total investment of $4.9 billion that created about 307,000 jobs. Compared to 2022, total investment has increased by 22%.

Most of the investment flow in 2023 came from China and local sources, accounting for 66% and 24%, respectively, with investment from Singapore and Malaysia at 2%, respectively, and other countries. Most of the investment projects are located in Kampong Speu province, and some of them are concentrated in Phnom Penh and the surrounding provinces of Phnom Penh, Kandal, and Takeo, as well as in the provinces with special economic zone development such as Svay Rieng and Sihanoukville.
