Sin Chansereivutha, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson at the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, confirmed that Techo Takmao International Airport (TIA) is scheduled to open by the end of the first half of 2025, while construction is more than 60 percent complete.
This statement was made during a visit to the progress of the construction of Techo Takhmao International Airport (TIA) under the leadership of H.E. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, on February 15, 2024.
Sin Chansereivutha stated that "the construction work achieved by the company (Phase 1) as of February 8, 2024 accounted for 64.1% of the total work with a total cost of $932 million."
He said that the construction of the road connecting Samdech Hun Sen Blvd. and across National Road No. 2 to the airport, which is 60 meters wide and 13.5 kilometers long, has reached 85%.
He pointed out that the construction of Techo International Airport started in 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024 (Phase 1) (according to the updated master schedule, which was last updated by CAIC/Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd.) if nothing changes.
Techo Takhmao International Airport will be a 4F airport capable of accommodating large-scale aircraft that can absorb and receive long-haul transcontinental flights that can accommodate giant aircraft up to the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800. The investment company has ambitions to develop this new airport into the largest and most modern airport in Asia.
