A Japanese Company Plans to Invest $650 million to Build SEZ in Pursat

A large Japanese company, Minebea, will purchase about 50 hectares of land in Pursat province to create a new special economic zone to expand its second plant. While this project will create thousands of job opportunities for people as well.

This was stated by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, on February 24, 2024.

In addition, the accompanying delegation visited the Stung Bot International Gate and inspected the progress of the development of the SEZ in Banteay Meanchey province. “Minebea, which has a factory in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, has decided to set up a second factory in Pursat. It will buy 50 hectares of land with an investment of about $650 million, create 8,000 jobs, and is now ready," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

His Excellency continued that the reason why the company decided to expand the factory and establish a special economic zone in Pursat province is because in Pursat, there is clean energy, solar panels, hydropower, etc. One more thing is to be able to transport goods to Thailand quickly on National Road No. 5, expanding from 2 to 4 lanes.

Please note that Minebea Cambodia is a subsidiary of Minebea Mitsumi, the Japanese multinational corporation that began operations in 2011 and has expanded its production line subsequently.

Minebea Cambodia is currently providing employment opportunities to 6,911 people, investing in the production of micromotors, fan motors, resonant devices, optical components for mobile phones, electronic devices, vibrators for computer games, electronic components, electronic circuits, LED panels, blood sugar measuring instruments, and smart public lighting systems.
