Deputy Prime Minister: National Road No.50C from Kampong Chhnang to Kampong Thom is a priority project for 2024

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has placed National Road No.50C from Kampong Chhnang to Kampong Thom as one of the priority projects to be built first in 2024.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the Meeting to Summarize the Work Results of 2023 and the Work Direction for 2024 of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on February 29, 2024 at the Ministry of Public Works, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, instructed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to review the road and bridge project from Kampong Chhnang to Kampong Thom, which is a priority project to start construction first this year.

Deputy Prime Minister said: “Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has announced that this project is a priority project for 2024; therefore, His Excellency Peng Ponea, please follow this project of National Road No. 50C to reach the opening of the construction site as soon as possible.

According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, the Ministry of Public Works has already sent a letter to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Please note that the road and bridge project from Kampong Chhnang to Kampong Thom is from Kampong Leaeng district, Kampong Chhnang province, to National Road No.6A in Srayov commune, Stung Sen city, Kampong Thom province. The project includes the construction of a 58-kilometer National Road No. 50C and another 3.3-kilometer bridge, which will be the longest bridge in Cambodia.

The project is expected to cost a total of $250 million, of which the road will cost about $150 million for the bridge and about $100 million.
