Another international deep-water port, located in Kampot province, will be inaugurated on June 6, 2024. This was confirmed by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in a meeting with the Cambodian diaspora living in Australia and New Zealand on March 3.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister said, "On June 6, I will inaugurate another deep-water port in Kampot." The Prime Minister said that the freshwater port is currently being inspected for construction, while he is asking the Inter-Ministerial Commission to study the management of sand because some rivers have to start being restored to open the navigation route.
Please be informed that the above port is located in Changhaon village, Sangkat Preaek Tnaot, Bokor city, Kampot province, with a construction area of 600 hectares. The construction site was opened on May 5, 2022. This investment project has a water depth of 15 to 16 meters, which can accommodate ships with a capacity of 100,000 tons, and is divided into three phases with a total investment capital of about $1,500 million, which in the first phase plan is about $200 million.
