The Mekong River Crossing Bridge in Kratie is Scheduled to be Completed Next Year

The bridge project, which crosses the Mekong River in Kratie province, is almost halfway completed after more than a year of construction.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on March 14, 2024, to date, the construction of the bridge has reached 45%, scheduled to be completed by September 2025, while the construction of the connecting road has reached 15%. Overall, the progress of the whole physical project is about 30%. The above figures show that the project is progressing in a positive direction, as expected.

On the occasion of inspecting the technical specifications and monitoring the progress of the above project, H.E. Lim Sidenin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Project Director, introduced the construction companies as well as the technical consultants to improve the Construction Method Statement, strengthen the safety of construction work at all stages, and must be equipped with LED bridge lighting as well.

In addition, the project director also urged the construction company to add more machinery and follow the work calendar clearly because now is the dry season, which is a good time for the road foundation, and every stage of the work must be tested to be in accordance with the set standards.

Please be informed that the project of the bridge across the Mekong River has a total length of 1,761 meters, connecting the east bank in Bos Leav commune, Chetr Borei district, to the west bank in Saob commune, Preaek Prasab district, Kratie province. The construction cost is about $111.98 million. The project also includes the construction of a total of 15.490 kilometers of connecting roads (7,684 kilometers on the east side and 7,806 kilometers on the west side) and 4 side roads with a total length of 16.208 kilometers.

The main bridge project is being built by Shanghai Construction Company (SCG) and overseen by Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd. The opening of this bridge project will greatly benefit the national economy and the family economy by facilitating the travel of people, tourists and the transportation of all kinds of goods or agricultural products.
