In the six months of the new government, from September 2023 to February 2024, 173 investment projects have been registered with the Council Development of Cambodia (CDC), with a total investment of $4,150 million, creating more than 170,000 jobs.
This is according to the statement made by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, on the occasion of chairing the plenary session of the Council of Ministers on the morning of March 15, 2024, at the Peace Palace.
The Prime Minister further stated that there are 173 investment projects in agriculture, agro-industry, tourism industry, infrastructure, and others. Sources of investment come from China, Singapore, the United States, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Japan, and many other countries, as well as Cambodia itself.
Samdech stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia is actively working to improve the environment and encourage investment to stimulate and increase economic activity and employment. In fact, since Samdech himself and many senior officials, both national and sub-national, have met and interacted with many people, both inside and outside the country, that is, only after the Royal Government of the seventh mandate was formed.
The PM claimed that he observed that most foreign investors saw the potential of Cambodia and were interested in investing in it as well.
He stated that in the past six months, a total of 3,313 newly opened factories, including 164 garment factories and 3,149 non-garment factories, created a total of 76,000 jobs.
On that occasion, the PM said that in the future, a delegation of South Korean investors will visit Cambodia, while Samdech Thipadei will also visit South Korea in May 2024.
He added that during his upcoming official visit to South Korea, he will hold working talks with the President of South Korea to attract more South Korean investors to invest in Cambodia.
It should be noted that in the first two months of 2024, Cambodia received 69 investment projects with a total investment of nearly $1.3 billion.
