As a part of modern architecture, the most striking thing about modern high-rise buildings is their vertical development and significant height.

These modern high-rise buildings are not only place of residence and work in the city, but they are also the best “name cards” to display the image of the city. They convey the image, taste and prosperity of the city. They are the embodiment of urban aesthetics and the first impressions of people to a city.

Today, let’s follow Compass to check out the ingeniously built skyscrapers in the city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Cambodia, a Southeast Asian country, has developed rapidly in recent years and has become new favorite for investors from all over the world. However, its foundation is relatively weak, so it still needs to be vigorously developed.

Looking at the capital Phnom Penh, in terms of modern architecture, before 2014, the tallest building in Cambodia was the 118-meter-high 33-story Canadia Tower (the first and tallest Grade-A office building in Cambodia). After 2014, the 39-story Vattanac Tower with a height of 187.3 meters has emerged and became the tallest building in Cambodia. With the rapid development of Phnom Penh, urban architecture has also undergone considerable changes.

According to Cambodian media in early 2022, there are total 1,603 high-rise buildings over 5 floors in Phnom Penh. Among them, there are 926 buildings from 5-9 floors, 452 buildings from 10-19 floors, 120 buildings from 20-29 floors, 65 buildings from 30-39 floors are, and 40 buildings of 40 floors and over.

By 2023, there are 1,777 high-rise buildings with more than 5 floors in Phnom Penh, which shows the speed of development.

┊Koh Norea┊The 555m Skyscraper

Prime Minister Hun Manet said that Koh Norea is planning to build the tallest building with a 555-metre height. This statement was made when he presided over the inauguration ceremony of Koh Pich-Koh Norea Bridge on November 2023. In the same month, the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC) also unveils plans for this project, In the development of the Koh Norea satellite city, OCIC will build Phnom Penh’s longest riverside park (Koh Nora Parkway) with a total length of 4,200 meters along the lower reaches of the Mekong River. At the same time, it will also build buildings with a height of 555 meters.

┊Naga 3┊75 floors 358 meters

The construction of the third phase of NagaWorld, Cambodia's largest integrated entertainment complex, was started in March 2021.

The total investment of the project is US$3.5 billion. There will be a 75-story hotel tower and two blocks of 52-storey hotel tower in the project, offering close to 3,000 hotel rooms and 17 floors of multi-function podium block (life style products, high-tech theme park, entertainment, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) facilities, etc. There are also four basement floors of car parking and back of the house supports. The Total Gross Floor Area for the project reaches 545,000sqm, which is double that of Naga 1 and Naga 2.

In June 2023, NagaCorp has announced that it is pushing back the completion date of its $3.5 billion Naga 3 project in Phnom Penh by four years, to September of 2029, as opposed to the previous completion date of September 2025.

┊J-TOWER 3┊77 floors 320 meters

On May 3, 2023, WH Company signed a joint venture agreement with Tanichu Group to develop the “J-TOWER 3” condominium building in Phnom Penh's Boeung Keng Kang I – at 77 storeys and 320 metres, set to be the tallest building in Cambodia.

In December of the same year, the project held its officially groundbreaking ceremony and is expected to be completed and handover by the end of 2028. The project has a total of 360 units, with facilities such as 2 lobbies, Kid’s Play Space, Sky Garden, Fitness Gym, Indoor Swimming Pool, Kids Pool, Sauna, Spa, Cafe & Lounge, Sky Bar and infinity pool…

┊Urban Village┊58 floors 228 meters

Urban Village project covers a total area of 7.6 hectares and divided into three phases. It’s developed by Goldfame Group and constructed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau.

Urban Village is the largest international boutique complex in Phnom Penh. The project includes the factory, condominium (1-3 bedrooms), lofts, offices, businesses, parking spaces and other products and other facilities. The first phase of the project consists of four 23-story international condominium buildings with a total of 828 residential units. The first phase has been completely sold out and has been topped out. 

In February 2024, the second phase of the Urban Village was also officially topped out, with a height of 230 meters, making it the tallest building along Hun Sen Blvd.

┊The Peak┊55 floors 224 meters

The Peak is a premium and luxurious 55-storey mixed-use development located in Sangkat Tonle Bassac of Chamkarmon District, Phnom Penh City. The project consists of luxury restaurant, retail mall, offices, residential units and the famous Shangri-La 5 Star Hotel.

The developer of this project is Oxley Gem (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Oxley Holdings.

┊Morgan EnMaison┊60 floors 218 meters

The Morgan Enmaison project is located along the Mekong River in Chroy Changvar district. It has a total construction area of approximately 422,000sqm and consists of 5 hight-rise building. It is an all-ages riverside garden community with products lines of Morgan riverside condo, Morgan Sky Palace penthouse & sky Villa, and Morgan Smart Loft. 

The Project inside equipped with many Luxurious facilities including: exclusive helipad, yacht club, marina berths, 210m high of VIP club, infinity pool, riverside gardens about 10,000 square meters, gym, cigar & wine bar, Spa room, etc.

┊Golden Tower┊42 floors 211 meters

Golden Tower is located at the bustling intersection of Monivong and Sihanouk boulevards in Phnom Penh. It is the first high-rise project developed in Phnom Penh, integrating commercial, office and residential areas. Construction started in 2008, but the project has experienced a series of delays and uncertainties over a long time. Although the developer appeared to have resumed work on the tower and has been topped out in 2019, as of now,  the project remains incomplete.

In March 2024, in order not to affect the image of the city and the development of the real estate sector, Seng Lot, a spokesman for the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, say that the ministry is still cooperating on the push to finally complete construction process.

┊Morgan Tower┊48 floors 210 meters

Morgan Tower is located on Koh Pich CBD, with a total height of 210 meters and 48 floors. It is the first super 5A Grade A office building in Phnom Penh and one of the architectural symbols of Phnom Penh's skyline. The project completed in July 2022.

The 40th-45th floors of the Morgan Tower are 499-1000m² sky villas (Star Palace). The project is also equipped with facility spaces such as a helipad on the top floor, Skybar, a sky viewing platform, an infinity sky pool, CLUB, a fitness spa club, an international restaurant, a president's office, a wine cigar bar, etc., to enjoy the respectful service beyond international standard.

┊Times Square 302┊48 Floors 190 meters

Times Square 302, also known as Times Square 6, is the sixth and latest project of the famous developer (Mega Kim World Corp.). It is located in BKK, Phnom Penh and the construction started in March 2023.

The project has a total of 370 units, with fitness and lifestyle facilities on the 48th floor rooftop, including Infinity Swimming Pool, Ping Pong Room, Gym, BBQ, Sky Garden and Terrace, Yoga room, Kids playground etc.. In addition, the 37th floor also has Sky-Lobby, Family KTV, Sky Cinema, Sky PingPong, Sky Meeting room, Sky Lounge, Pool Table, etc.

┊Flatiron┊41 floors 168 meters

Flatiron By Meridian is located in Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh, with a total construction area of approximately 84,000 square meters, including Grade A office buildings and apartment hotels.

The project is equipped with luxurious facilities, including sky infinity pool, stadium-level fitness room, rhythm cycling room, yoga room, sauna, meeting room, shared kitchen, lounge, sun deck, grand lobby, parking lot and landscape design. 

┊Wealth Mansion┊45 floors 166 meters

The building height of Wealth Mansion is 166 meters, and the total construction area of the project is approximately 140,000 square meters.

The ground floor are lobby, elevator and Lounge, Floors 1F-5F are parking spaces, 6F-8F are functional Floors (office facilities, etc.), 9F-36F are serviced apartment, 37F-42F above are the five-star Shama Hotel and 43F-45F are facility floors including infinity swimming pool of about 1,100sqm, and badminton court of about 500sqm.

In addition, there are other facilities such as gym, Chinese and Western restaurants, sky bar, etc., as well as business club and multi-functional hall. The ground floor has a floor height of 5.1 meters with a high-ceiling lobby design, and is also equipped with a 24-hour international chain supermarket of approximately 200sqm.

┊The Bridge┊45 floors 154 meters

The Bridge has a total of 45 floors and located in Sangkat Tonle Bassac near Koh Pich CBD. It covers an area of one hectare and is Jointly developed by Singapore-based developer Oxley Holdings and Cambodia’s Worldbridge Land.

The Bridge comprises of 2 towers. 1 for Condo & 1 for SoHo, linked via sky bridges and surrounded by stunning city views.

Tower 1 and 2 each has its own unique recreational facilities. Tower 1 offers a sundeck swimming pool, children’s playground, family gym, and function halls to host private events. Tower 2 features a private rooftop pool with an adjoining gym for SoHo executives on the 39th floor.
