Neak Oknha Kith Meng's Royal Group Announces a New SEZ Covering 120 Hectares in Kandal Province

Neak Oknha Kith Meng's Royal Group has announced plans to create a new 120-hectare special economic zone in Kandal province, as the new economic zone is expected to create many job opportunities for Cambodians. This is according to the Facebook post released by Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, a subsidiary of Royal Group, on March 30, 2024.

In a press release, the company stated that, company is in the process of establishing the new Royal Group Kandal Special Economic Zone (RGKSEZ) over the area of approximately 120 ha of land connected to our current RGPPSEZ by a new bridge over the Steung Prek Thnout river which company have finished constructing since 2022. 

The company has already started the soil backfilling work, and basic infrastructure will be ready to welcome investment this year. As the demand for expansion is high, approximately 100 ha has been secured by a company currently operating in RGPPSEZ. Once in full operation, this company is expected to generate about 20,000 more jobs for Cambodian people.

Please be informed that this is the second special economic zone of Royal Group after the first special economic zone of Phnom Penh, which was established in 2006 and currently has many companies operating, including 85 manufacturing companies and 29 non-manufacturing companies that employ more than 43,000 workers.

This is a sign of increased demand in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, as in the first two months of 2024, the special economic zone had an export volume of about USD 264 million, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year. It is expected to break another record of about USD 2 billion in export trade this year.
