In the first three months of 2024, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 106 new investment projects and production expansion projects with a total investment of $2.2 billion US and created more than 107,000 jobs. This is according to the press release of the Council for the Development of Cambodia on April 5, 2024.
It should be noted that there are 73 investment projects located outside the special economic zone, including 3 production expansion projects, while 33 investment projects are located outside the special economic zone, including 3 production expansion projects.
According to the above data, in the first quarter of 2024, the approval of investment projects increased by 67 projects, while the investment capital increased significantly by nearly $2 billion, equivalent to about 649% compared to the same period in 2023.
The rapid increase is due to the presence of new projects in infrastructure, industry, tourism, and industrial expansion in special economic zones.
It should be noted that in the first quarter of 2024, domestic investment ranked first, while investment from China ranked second, accounting for more than 93% of total investment.
