7th Meeting of the Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee

During his visit to Cambodia on April 22, 2024, H.E. WANG YI, Member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Party Communist (CPC) Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and His Excellency Deputy Director General Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, attended the attended the 7th Meeting of the Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee at the Council for the Development of Cambodia.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the role of planning and coordination of the China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee to continue to build a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard community of the Cambodia-China Community of Common Destiny. Both sides agreed to promote high-level communication, deepening the exchange of governance experience.

The two sides agreed to promote the linkage between the “Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)” and the “Pentagon Strategy of Cambodia, to plan a cooperation plan on the “Industrial and Technological Corridor” soon, promote the preliminary design of the China-Cambodia railway, promote the implementation of the first phase of the "Fish and Rice Corridor" project, as well as the China Agricultural Model Center, and strengthen the China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic partnership.

After the meeting, both sides signed three important documents to contribute to the development of water and agriculture in Cambodia.

These three important documents include:

First, exchange of notes on the China-aided Rural Water Supply Project-Phase II

Second, hand over the certificate for the agricultural development master plan project in Cambodia.

Third, the protocol relating to quarantine and hygiene requirements for cowhide pet dog chew semi-products to be exported from Cambodia to China.

At the same time, the two sides also held a handover ceremony of the diary of the kingdom of Chenla about the territory, traditions, and customs translated into Khmer and a celebration of the export of fresh coconuts from Cambodia to China.

Please be informed that H.E. WANG YI arrived in Cambodia on the afternoon of April 21, 2024, for a three-day official visit. The Chinese diplomat will pay an official visit to Cambodia until April 23, 2024.

The Chinese Foreign Minister is in Cambodia for a three-day official visit coinciding with the Cambodia-China People-to-People Exchange Year. The visit is also to promote the Diamond Cooperation framework and to stimulate collaboration across regional and international platforms, thus mutually benefiting the two nations and peoples.
