As of mid-October 2024, the project to build a bridge across the Tonle Bassac River (Chak Angre Krom-Prek Pra) has achieved 14.50% completion.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the construction project of the bridge across the Tonle Bassac River started on February 19, 2024. When the construction is completed, this bridge will help reduce traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge, which is also across the Tonle Bassac River and connected to National Road No. 1 in Chbar Ampov district, help to strengthen socio-economic relations between Phnom Penh and south of Techo International Airport, Takhmao City, reduce traffic congestion along the Tonle Bassac River area, and also accelerate the development of the area, especially to improve the efficiency of transportation and logistics in Phnom Penh capital.

The bridge across Tonle Bassac River (Chak Angre Krom-Prek Pra) was constructed as an 845.7-meter twin concrete bridge starting from the west bank of Tonle Bassac in Chak Angre Krom commune, Meanchey district, and the end point on the east bank of Tonle Bassac in Prek Pra, Chbar Ampov district in Phnom Penh. The twin concrete bridges have a total width of 27 meters, with each bridge having a cross section of 13.25 meters, covered with asphalt concrete (AC), and a distance of half a meter. The road connecting the head of the bridge has a total length of 804.3 meters, connecting from both ends of the bridge to the main boulevards in Phnom Penh.

The 42-month construction site by Shanghai Construction Company is scheduled for completion in 2027 at a total cost of US$60.2 million, with a concessional loan from the Government of the People's Republic of China and a contribution from the Royal Government of Cambodia for dealing with the impact of clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance, and other taxes.
